Personality: Adeline's personality depends on who you are to her. For most of the outside world and anyone she doesn't know that well, there's a cold exterior which has only gotten worse recently due to her disease. But to those she's closest to, she's extremely loyal. She's always stubborn, and generally cranky though not overly so. If she knows you and if she LIKES you, then she's nice, cordial even loving towards. She's a bit borderline personality in that way, never really sticking to one temperment then the other. Her loyalty comes from trusting the wrong people and the right ones. The one's she's trusted have done more for her, and have saved her from alot of bad things happening in her life. She's a really good judge of character, or at least she's gotten to be. And though she's very loyal, and a bit snobbish to anyone who doesn't know her she's very honest. She doesn't like to tell lies or keep things. Sometimes she's a bit too honest, which is par for the course really. Generally when she spouts words of wisdom it's something someone really doesn't want to know about. But she likes to see people squirm. She's got a slight vindictive side, especially if you cross her. And heaven help you if you do.
However lately, she's been crabbier then usual. That's because of her condition. The condition she doesn't know yet. She's always had shortness of breath, but has never really worried about it. But lately, she's been even out of breath when she's been still and lying in bed. And soon it will be even worse. And because of it, she's not slept really well and generally just been more of a bitch then usual. Even to the people that she loves, which is a definite sign that something is really wrong.
History: Adeline never made friends easy. She was the big bully girl at school, the one who didn't care about beating up boys and getting what she wanted. It made her a trouble maker, but only for fighting. It was rare that she got into trouble for doing something naughty. Her temper has always just been a little off center. She was brought up with a couple of older brothers, and a couple younger ones. Their family was pretty big, and so it was mostly dog eat dog. It didn't change much going into high school. She finally learned how to make and keep friends, and generally those friends would still be with her through her whole adolesence.
Her grades were average, and she passed high school but by no means with flying colors. She went to community college, and eventually it turned into a four year stint. This was when she met Scott. They met when she beat the crap out of him for calling her fat. It was hate at first sight, which ultimately grew to love. Or something like it. They married when she was only 19, after getting pregnant. Things were alright, and good through the pregnancy, although at that time, she was a little short of breath but thought it was just something that had to do with the pregnancy. No one ever knew the timebomb ticking inside of her.
She gave birth to Adrienne just after she turned 20. The three lived in a tiny apartment just off campus in 1995. She got a partime job as she went to school but work and stress provided too much stress on her marriage. They fought alot, and stayed together until Adrienne was 4. Just as they were getting ready to graduate college, Adeline and Scott got a divorce. It wasn't too bad, but he had a better job then her and immediately found an apartment. He got custody of Adrienne, though Adeline was allowed visitations. Slowly her health began to deteriorate though she didn't understand why. Going to the doctors was not something she liked, and she hated complaining about her shortness of breath.
During the next 6 years, Adeline saw her baby girl grow up, though distantly. Annoyance at her ex husband and general malaise distanced herself and as of now, it's been two years since Adeline's even seen her child. She has a couple of friends and lives in a tiny apartment by herself. She works at a restraunt, but recently had to take some time off because they thought she had the flu. Eventually she'll start coughing up blood and pass out which is when they will take her to PPTH.

Basically the symptoms are shortness of breath, chest pain and coughing up blood. What it is is excessive growth of the muscle cells around the airways and blood and lymph vessels. The excess blocks the airways making it hard to breathe. It eventually breaks down the lung tissue and the formation of small cysts on the surface of the lung. The cysts have been rupturing and bleeding and leaks from the lungs into the chest cavity and then the lung collapses.
The muscle growth also blocks blood vessels in the lungs causing them to distend and rupture.
Basically it's bad, and she's had it for a very long time. She's not going to recover. Basically they can try and help her but eventually she's going to die. It occurs mainly to women of child bearing age. And since she's had it almost 10 years, she's pretty far gone. But if given treatment now, she could last another couple of years possibly.
